My name is Tye Harris, a 29-year-old living with her husband and dog in adorable Asheville, North Carolina. I have had an interest in photography for as long as I can remember and consider it a significant part of my life. To this day I thank my Dad for buying me the older, fully manual, 35mm Nikon FM10 instead of the newer and more automatic version I had actually wanted. He knew that I would need to really learn the “nitty gritty” of the manual camera if I was really going to learn anything about photography at all – and he was absolutely right!
After graduating college, where I pursued a minor in Studio Art (they didn’t have photography as a major so I chose English instead!) I began working for a wedding photographer, Abigail Seymour, in Greensboro, North Carolina as a part time second shooter (and sometimes third shooter). It was this experience that made me think this could become more than just a hobby. I am by no means a professional and I still have a lot (really, a lot) to learn! The digital world is still very new to me and I look forward to getting to know my equipment better as well as learning new equipment in the future.
Often times I look through blogs and sites of extremely talented and now professional photographers and scroll to their very first post. I love to compare their current work to their early work and see their improvement and change of style. I hope that I too will be able to one day look back to some of my earlier work and notice an improvement, a growth. I hope you will check back often and bear with me as I experience my personal “journey” as an aspiring photographer!
